Dr. Bec Crawford

Bec Crawford, DVM CertAqV BSc (Hons)


Dr. Crawford obtained her doctorate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in affiliation with the University of Sydney. Her passion for veterinary medicine and the natural world was initially nurtured with a degree in marine biology from Dalhousie University in 2013 with a focus on shark population ecology, and she obtained the Certified Aquatic Veterinarian credential alongside her doctorate via the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association in 2018.

Her experience and knowledge base are broad, spanning small and large animal, exotic and wildlife medicine.

Canadian born and raised, Dr. Crawford moved to California following completion of her clinical rotations in the Caribbean and Australia. Dr. Crawford spent the first five years of her career practicing initially in the San Francisco Bay Area, then Orange County and San Diego, including emergency, general practice, surgery and urgent care for companion animals and exotic pets.

She moved from Southern California to South Florida in 2024 to join the ACCESS team, longing to work in a collaborative setting alongside specialists to provide gold standard care for her patients.

Dr. Crawford’s professional interests include aquatic animal and wildlife rehabilitation medicine and research, critical care, diagnostic imaging and surgery, emergency and field medicine, epidemiology, infectious diseases and public health, natural disaster relief, pathology and toxicology. As an Emergency Responder, Divemaster and Assistant Instructor passionate about health and fitness, outside of work she can be found donning scuba gear, hitting the gym, photographing wildlife and spending quality time with her rescue dog.
