Dr. Lucia Alvarez

Lucía Alvarez, DVM, DACVIM

Originally from South America, Dr. Alvarez grew up in Alabama and received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University.

She returned to Alabama and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine summa cum laude in 2006. After an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Specialists of South Florida, she continued on to residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Alvarez was credentialed as a board certified specialist in internal medicine in 2010 and has practiced in busy multi-specialty animal hospitals.

She is detailed oriented, stays up to date with advances in internal medicine, and has been a speaker in several continuing education courses in the United States and abroad.

She has a special interest in minimally invasive diagnostic laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Alvarez enjoys working closely with primary care veterinarians to provide the best care for clients and their pets. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
