Alec Sherman

Alec Sherman, DVM, DACVS-SA

Dr. Alec Sherman, a native New Yorker, established his Florida roots after obtaining both his undergraduate Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at the University of Florida. Go Gators! Dr. Sherman went on to complete a rotating veterinary internship at the University of Pennsylvania followed by a surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. Dr. Sherman then earned the title of board-certified veterinary surgeon (DACVS-SA) following completion of a surgical residency at Iowa State University. More recently, Dr. Sherman received specialty training in hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Sherman gained experience in many soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurologic animal surgery procedures during his extensive training and over the course of a very active and diverse surgical practice. As a practitioner, he continues to actively participate in research and has presented his findings at numerous national conferences. Dr. Sherman is particularly interested in minimally invasive orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, fracture repair, and arthroplasty. Dr. Sherman prides himself on tailoring surgical approaches and treatment plans based on the individual needs of each patient and family.

Alongside providing advanced surgical care, Dr. Sherman locums at prestigious university teaching hospitals, where he provides training and shares his expertise with future veterinarians. Committed to fostering growth in the veterinary community, Dr. Sherman regularly lectures and teaches about new developments in veterinary surgery, blending his extensive practical knowledge with innovative techniques to advance the field.

Dr. Sherman shares a home in Florida with his wife Dana, also a veterinarian and three perfect rescue pups: Manuka, Bodhi, and Daffodil. Outside of work, you can find Dr. Sherman hiking with his dogs, enjoying Gator sports, paddle boarding, or SCUBA diving.
