What to Expect

When your pet is referred for oncology care at ACCESS – Palm Beach County, here’s what the process typically involves:

  • Initial Medical Review

    The ACCC oncology team will conduct a thorough review of your pet’s history, prior test results, and any relevant imaging or pathology reports.

  • Consultation & Examination

    Your pet will receive a comprehensive physical exam and consultation to discuss symptoms, prognosis, and next steps.

  • Advanced Diagnostics

    If needed, further tests—such as biopsies, bloodwork, CT scans, or ultrasound—may be recommended to determine the type, location, and stage of cancer.

  • Customized Treatment Plan

    Based on your pet’s diagnosis, overall health, and quality-of-life goals, the oncology team will create a personalized treatment plan. This may include options like surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted drug therapy, radiation therapy, or palliative care.

  • Ongoing Support & Coordination

    Throughout treatment, the oncology team stays in close contact with your primary care veterinarian and the ACCESS team to ensure seamless care and continuity. You'll also have direct access to the oncology team for any questions or concerns.
