Hurricane Protocol for ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital
At ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital, safety is always our top priority—yours, your pet’s, and our team’s. That’s why we have detailed hurricane protocols ready to go when an official Hurricane Warning for Palm Beach County is issued.
Here’s what you need to know about how we operate during these events:
Specialist Appointments
If a hurricane warning is in effect, all scheduled appointments during that time will be canceled. But no worries—our team will reach out to notify you in advance and help reschedule at your convenience.
Emergency Veterinary Services
Our 24x7 Emergency Department will remain open throughout the storm, unless instructed otherwise by local authorities (for example, in the case of a “Shelter in Place” order). That said, we strongly discourage driving during dangerous weather conditions. If your pet needs emergency care, please call us first—we’ll assess the situation over the phone and guide you through next steps.

Hospitalized Patients
Pets already in our care will continue to receive treatment and support, even during the storm. For added peace of mind, our hospital is equipped with an on-site generator to ensure uninterrupted power and essential services.
While we always hope these protocols never need to be activated, we encourage all pet owners to have a hurricane plan in place for their furry family members. To help you prepare, we’ve included two helpful links below with resources, tips, and storm-readiness checklists.
As always, if you have any questions or need guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you—rain or shine.
